The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) reported that over 100 million Subscribers’ Identity Modules (SIMs) have been generated locally in the past year, demonstrating the success of the federal government’s indigenous content agenda.
Aderonke Sola-Ogunsola, the head of the NCC’s financing and stakeholder engagement team, said that more than 100 million SIM cards had been ordered by various telecoms firms, ending the importation of SIM and enabling Nigeria to transition to a totally digital economy.
She claims that the purpose of Nigeria Telecommunications Indigenous Content is to foster youth innovation and the digital economy.
