A lagos Magistrate Court sitting in Ebute-Metta area of the state has ordered that Ogunyemi Olalekan be remanded in prison.
Ogunyemi is the police officer who shot and killed kolade Johnson on Monday April 1st 2019 in a supposed raid. He was found guilty and dismissed from the police force.
He was summoned in court today friday by the Criminal Investigation Department of the Lagos state police command in Yaba.
The magistrate, Mrs A. Salawu therefore stipulated that Ogunyemi be remanded in prison pending the time further instructions are given by the states Public Prosecution office.
His trial has been adjourned till may 6th.
Meanwhile, A sergent Godwin Orji who was arraigned alongside Ogunyemi had been discharged and acquitted as there was no evidence to the shooting and killing of Kolade Johnson. Both men were subjected to internal Disciplinary proceedings, known as Orderly Room Trial. Five witnesses were called to give their own testimony of the incident were Ogunyemi was found guilty.
They were both tried on three counts- discretitable conduct, unlawful exercise of Authority and acts contrary to the the Police Act and Regulations
