Lionel Messi, a great player for Argentina, has received the “Baton of Football” from CONMEBOL, the body that governs football in South America. In honor of Messi, a life-size statue of him carrying the World Cup was created.

On Monday, the player posted images from the occasion to his Instagram feed.

He wrote, “Thanks to #conmebol for this tribute and to #sole_pastorutti for that beautiful moment. It was very special and emotional.”

Argentina defeated France in a thrilling World Cup final, and Messi led his team to victory. The tournament was held in Qatar in 2022.
