Lionel Messi nominated in three categories for ESPY 2023 awards [Full list]
World Cup winner and Argentinian captain Lionel Messi, has been nominated in three orders for the Excellence In Sports Performance Yearly Awards (ESPY 2023 awards).
The prize is given by popular American broadcast television station, ABC.
The former Barcelona and PSG star player has enjoyed a particularly stellar campaign in recent seasons
Lionel Messi lifted the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, scoring seven goals and registering three assists.
The seven- time Ballon d’Or winner also scored twice in the final against France at the Lusail Iconic Stadium, Lusail City, Qatar.
His stellar performances earned him nominations in the ESPY Best Championship category. Other nominees in the category are Nikola Jokic (NBA), Rose Zhang (LPGA) and Leon Edwards (UFC).
He was also nominated in the best athlete category alongside stars like Aaron Judge (Baseball), Patrick Mahomes (NFL) and Nikola Jokic (NBA).
The 35-year-old is also a nominee for the Best Soccer Player category alongside Aitana Bonmati, Erling Haaland, and Sophia Smith
Lionel Messi last won the Best International Athlete Award at the ESPY back in 2015
Performance was also nominated in the stylish athlete order alongside the likes of Aaron Judge( Baseball), Patrick Mahomes( NFL) and Nikola Jokic( NBA). The 35- time-old is also a designee for the Stylish Soccer Player order alongside Aitana Bonmati, Erling Haaland, and Sophia Smith. Messi won the stylish transnational athlete award at the ESPY back in 2015
