On Monday night, designer Daniel Lee made his public debut as Burberry’s new chief creative officer at a crowded, purpose-built arena beneath the shadow of London’s Oval stadium, the home of cricket, a uniquely British sport.
The eagerly awaited occasion was a homecoming for the Bradford, West Yorkshire, native who had previously held the top creative position at the Italian fashion house Bottega Veneta. VIPs in attendance were Naomi Campbell, Bianca Jagger, Skepta, and Anna Wintour.
After the runway, Lee told the media that he wants to “celebrate what’s fantastic about the country.”
